Move Ahead With Samsung D600

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Adam_Jaylin]Adam Jaylin The fabulous Samsung D600 is not just a mobile phone; it can easily be classified as a symbol of high art. The winner of the Handset of the Year award at the Mobile Choice Awards 2005 the D600 is one of the few handset that has found favour with users as well as experts commenting from with in the mobile phone industry. The Samsung D600 is a feature rich fashion phone (again a rare virtue) that appeals to almost every mobile user, irrespective of their calling in life. Beginning with its fabulous camera to sharp display, the D600 covers all the ground that is required of a good imaging device. The display is worth 240x320 pixels and if that fails to impress you the 2Megapixels digital camera with 4x zoom and a choice of shooting modes with an image editor will surely leave you awestruck. The 81 MB internal memory allows you to store videos upto an hour and the innovative TV output can be used to display documents on a TV screen if desired. But if you think the internal memory of 81MB is not going to be enough for you to store all your songs the sight of external space & TransFlash memory cards will gladden your heart. The music player of all the top end Samsung handsets is regarded as outstanding and the case is no different when it comes to the D600. It supports MP3, AAC, AAC+ and MPEG4 media file formats and the integrated stereo speakers take care of sound quality. So the D600 is a smart music phone besides being a powerful imaging device but the best part is it doesnt ends here. The Bluetooth is nowadays standard inclusion in most of the handsets but this fact doesnt diminish its capability of being an easy medium to send and receive files locally. The web browser is there for you to access web while the email client manages all the mails you receive in a perfect manner. The D600 can also be synchronised with your PC & Laptop due to the presence of SyncML software while its compatibility with the GSM networks world over is ensured by tri-band capability. The [http://www.ukonlinemarket.co.uk/mobile/Phone_Deal.asp?Ph=Samsung--D600]Samsung D600 is truly a remarkable phone and there are no reasons as to why it shouldnt sell even two years after its launch. The "Polyphonic" Disguise: What (and where) Poly Ringtones Really Are

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tudor_Ilisoi]Tudor Ilisoi I'm not going to talk about the history of ringtones and how cool is to personalize every aspect of your cellphone. There are other persons who do. Instead, I'll be explaining what poly tones really are and why are we calling them by this name. You see, in the 90's hard disks were small and computing power ridiculously limited, compared to these days. A sound card was not very common, and "multimedia" meant full colour pictures. This is not the history of personal computers, either. I'm just trying to emphasize a few things. Real sounds could not be played on average computers back in the 90's. This, and the pre-existing music hardware industry lead to MIDI format being implemented in soundcards. MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. The technology uses an electronic musical notation to store songs. When playing back a MIDI song, the hardware (e.g. the soundcard or ... the phone) reads musical notes and generates corresponding sounds. The MIDI files contain multiple tracks. This way complex songs may be played, using more than one musical instrument. This was ideal for the 90s technology, when PC games were shipped on floppy disks and size did matter more than today. MIDI files are quite small, because they contain notation, not recorded sounds. A recorded (waveform) sound contains thousands of frequency values for each second (44,000 if sampled at 44kHz). A midi file may contain 200 music notes in a fraction of the waveform size. The limitation is a MIDI can only store notes. No voices, no sound effects. Anyway, what's the idea? Well, most computer games and music hardware were using MIDI as the preferred way to store and play music. This means there are more than 10 years since the MIDIs have been around. And better yet, thousands of them may be found on the Internet. This is due to music enthusiasts (both music professionals and karaoke fans) who recreated many popular songs in the MIDI format. Oh, and what does "multiple tracks" mean? Poyphony, i.e. more sounds at the same time. Nowadays, the 90's PC computing power fits in a pocket. No wonder they call the pocket PCs "PCs". And all the MIDI stuff can be easily played by a PDA or a cellphone. This is were "polyphonic ringtones" come into play. That's why poly tones have no voice tracks and they fit on low-memory phones (we're talking kilobytes). And that's why many of them remind you of good ol' DOS games (if you're old enough) So go ahead and search "MIDI download" or "MIDI database"on the Internet. You'll find loads of phone-ready songs out there. All free, incredibly small-sized, and royalty-free for personal use. You will, of course, need a cable to transfer those ringtones to your phone, if you downloaded using your PC. Usually an USB or bluetooth adapter does the trick. If you're using a modern Internet enabled phone, just browse the MIDI ringtones directly from your mobile device and enjoy your favorite music. Note that you will most likely need an HTTP capable browser, because not all websites are WAP enabled. Now go ahead and stun your friends with your MIDI phone ringtones and tell them about your MIDI secret. Test before bragging, because some phones only play proprietary format, non-MIDI files. Restore Your Marriage - 5 Ways to Feel Connected to Your Spouse Even on Opposite Schedules

By Kristin Craft Weve all been through times in our lives when it was so busy we would rarely have time to ourselves let alone time to contact our family and friends. With every day life moving as quickly as it is, there just seems to be no time to do everything in one day and get a decent amount of sleep so you can do it all over again the next day. Its no wonder why its so hard these days for a married couple to share a strong relationship. If you feel your marriage is lacking, check out the following advice to improve or even save your marriage! 1. Call them. Yes, this sounds simple and it is! Whether you initiate the phone call or are returning one, it is all based on keeping an open line of communication. Nothing says I dont care, more than not calling or not calling back. And if you married the person, its obvious you care about them! So show them! It doesnt have to be a long conversation; not everyone has the time for that anymore. You can just call to say hi and that you love and miss them. If youre returning a call and dont have a lot of time to devote to your spouse that second, let them know that you were just returning their call and arrange a later and better time to really catch up. 2. E-mail them. This flows along with the idea of an open line of communication, only to a further extent. If its hard for the two of you to talk on the phone, your next solution would be e-mail. You can write out anything to any length and send it to your spouse for him or her to read when they can. However, if youre looking for an immediate response, maybe you should develop your patience because chances are, you probably wont receive that. On the other hand, if you just want to send say, pictures of the family, pets, etc. or just dont need to instantly receive anything back from them, then the e-mail system will work out great. Another thoughtful thing to do is send your marriage partner articles or websites that concern his or her hobbies or interests. It shows that you still care and think about them and want them to be happy even when the two of you are apart. 3. Pay attention. When catching up on the phone or in e-mails, pay attention and really listen to what is being said. Youd be surprised at what can be uncovered! Now Im not saying analyze everything that comes out of either of your mouths but if something jumps out at you or you keep hearing the same thing over and over again, you should probably consider that to be something important enough to explore further. For example, if you keep hearing about visits to say, Starbucks, and theres no indication that your spouse is tired of it, maybe you should make arrangements to meet at one. The next time he or she is there without you, that special visit you two shared will be on his or her mind and therefore mentally connecting the two of you when you cant be in the physical company of one another. 4. Cherish the time you talk to them. A phone conversation or e-mail may be occasional in your marriage so dont be afraid to say whats on your mind. Yes, there is a time and place for everything and judging that is a whole other subject but if you feel a specific time is appropriate for what you have to say, then say it! You married your fianc to share a life together and bond on many levels so why hide your true feelings? The key here is confidence. If you feel that strongly about something, your enthusiasm will show through and at least that much will be respected. All Im saying is dont hold back too much because you never know when youll get another chance to speak your mind or show your appreciation. 5. Cherish the time you spend together. This may happen even less if the two of you are on opposing schedules so make it high quality and top priority when the plans do come up. You dont necessarily have to go out though. Maybe you could spend a quiet night at home with no cell phones and minimal connection to the outside world. Okay, maybe that seems like a lot to ask but think of it this way, the more distractions, the less continuous the connection will be between the two of you, which will lessen the quality of your time together. If you do want to go out, maybe you could go to a favorite restaurant or see a movie starring one of your commonly admired actors. The more special the activities are that you two share as a couple, the easier it will be to do your own individual tasks. Even if youre dog-tired be thankful you have someone to share a love with and to spend time with whatever time of the day or night it is. These are just a few simple tips that are fairly easy to utilize and benefit from. If you want to re-ignite the spark between you and your marriage partner, take this invaluable marriage advice. There is so much to gain from the help offered here and it only requires a small amount of effort to put the suggestions to use. Im giving you this match; now its your job to strike it, see the flames it will produce, and save your marriage! ===============================================

American Youth

By Sharon White Young Americans are often criticized for their superficiality of interests, egocentrism and lack of cultural sophistication. This is because there is an established reputation of lazy American teenagers who are used to sleeping at schools and spend free time drinking and watching TV. They spend too much time watching television, do not learn as much as they should and seem to be perfectly satisfied with being mediocre. However, not all young people are like this and such a sweeping statement would be a gross exaggeration. Many young Americans aim high and place priority on education and career. They realize that they have to study hard to reach their goals and are convinced that education is their best chance for prosperity and success in life. According to statistics more that half of American students receive some form of post-high school education and about 19 percent graduate from four-year colleges and universities. After studies the vast majority of young people plan to find a good job, get married and have a family. Others intend to join the armed forces or travel. A survey conducted recently among American students reveals that the most important thing they want from life is career and success, followed by happiness, marriage and family. It is sometimes said that American youths are lazy and undisciplined. The reality, however is different. The vast majority of young people in the United States are hard-working. One poll indicated that nine out of ten teenagers have after-school jobs. Some of them work part-time very day, others only at weekends and during summer vacation. The most popular jobs are delivering newspapers, washing cars, babysitting, working in fast food out-lets, restaurants, hotels, grocery stores and gas stations. The article was produced by the writer of masterpapers.com.

Your 7-Point Nutrition and Exercise Checklist

By Lucy-Ann Prideaux 1) Are you eating too much If your total calorie intake is still too high, you may need to eat slightly less each day to get your weight loss moving. Just 150-200 calories a day might just do it! It is very easy to exceed the amount of calories your body can actually use just by having those extra biscuits everyday, the drinks in the evening. Having treats and little extras once a week isnt going to hurt - but if you have a small daily extra eating habit, it will make a difference to your weight loss. If you are already eating small amounts, read on 2) Have you balanced your protein, CHO and fat to suit YOUR body? Macronutrient balance is crucial to effective fat loss. Some people are particularly sensitive to carbohydrates in their diet and store fat easily with carbs. These are the people who gain weight easily and often say I have a slow metabolism. Be aware of the potential to gain weight with too much carbohydrate. 3) Are you eating quality nutritious food? You need plenty of nutrients to lose weight effectively, so make sure the foods you are eating are natural, unprocessed and nutrient-dense foods. 4) Are you exercising enough times in the week You know one of the best reasons to exercise, is you can eat more, without worrying about gaining fat! Exercise increases levels of fat-burning enzymes and regulates hormones involved in fat metabolism. If you are existing on very few calories, but not losing weight, you really do need to exercise more often than you are, as well as eat small balanced meals very regularly throughout the day maybe 5 to 6 times. This is a great way (and possibly the only way) to drive your metabolism back up. The less you eat the more you drive your metabolic rate down. It is always better to burn your excess fat by exercising, not try to starve it away! For effective weight (fat) loss, try and be active daily, but specifically, do at least 3 aerobic exercise sessions 30-60 mins 3-5 times a week. My ideal recommendation would be 5 sessions of 45-60 minutes. 5) Are you exercising for LONG enough Read the above again! If you are already doing 30 minutes, 3 times a week, then increase those sessions to 45 minutes. You will see a difference in a few weeks, if you not compensating by eating more! 6) Have you thought about changing the TYPE of exercise you do? The body adapts very quickly to a mode of exercise. If you always cycle, try power walking and progressing to running, or try and build up your stamina in the pool, or a stair master or cross-trainer. There are many ways nowadays to find effective modes of cardiovascular exercise. 7) Have you thought about incorporating intervals into your aerobic exercise sessions? Intervals are repeated bursts of higher intensity exercise, lasting anywhere between 1-5 minutes. Not only do they make an exercise session more interesting, they help the body burn more calories during exercise AND more fat after exercise. Not a bad deal for simply stepping out of your comfort zone once in while! If you are trying to lose weight and get fitter, dont worry if you feel you havent got EVERYTHING right. Work on the important aspects that relate to YOU, and if you need help ask. Lucy-Ann Prideaux MSc BSc RNutr is a registered Nutritionist in the UK. Forward Thinking with Reverse Osmosis

By Christopher King Reverse Osmosis is a system of filtration that is highly effective at removing even the smallest particles from a liquid. It is also known as Hyperfiltration. The Reverse Osmosis process can remove particles as small as a dissolved individual ion. The most popular use for this process is in the purification of water for human consumption. Reverse Osmosis uses a semi-permeable membrane that allows the water to pass through it, while ensuring that contaminants do not. Reverse Osmosis systems have come a long way in recent years, and many people have installed them in their homes to ensure that their family is drinking clean, pure, healthy water. Many families are rightly concerned about the quality of water they are consuming. As evidenced by various stories in the press, people cannot always be sure that their tap water is clean and free from contaminants. One of the best ways to ensure that your family has clean drinking water is to take matters into your own hands and invest in a Reverse Osmosis system. There is no other commercial system available that is as effective as Reverse Osmosis. While a Reverse Osmosis system does effectively clean water, it does not disinfect it. The membrane that is used for filtration can and will remove biological contaminants, but it should not be relied upon solely to treat contaminated water for human consumption. If you are concerned about biological contaminants, you could always add an ultraviolet light to your water system. Intense ultraviolet light systems will destroy biological contaminants before they reach your RO system, therefore ensuring only the best possible drinking water. Reverse Osmosis systems effectively remove dozens of contaminants from water, including chlorine, benzene, chloroform, barium, and countless others. These systems essentially strip water down to its most basic form. We installed one in our home a few years ago. A manufacturing plant on the edge of town contaminated the local water supply and, although we were not affected, it served as a much needed wake-up call. Within days, we had a Reverse Osmosis water treatment system installed. We added the UV light system a month later, when we learned some more about it. Clean water is essential for health and survival. Contaminated water can kill you. Do you really have a choice in the matter? Think smart. Plan ahead. Christopher King is an environmental consultant and a member of Greenpeace. When he is not trying to save the whales from the humans, he is trying to save the humans from themselves. In his spare time, Chris writes freelance articles for purityplanet.com/ - a website dedicated to clean air and water with information about Air Conditioners, Water Filters, Hot Water Heaters and more. Autism - What Causes Autism and How Can You Prevent It

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jimmy_Wilson] Jimmy Wilson Autism is a neurodevelopment disorder that causes delays in social interaction, language as used in social communication, and/or imaginative play, that originates prior to 3 years of age, according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. What causes Autism? This question is still answered with open-ended possibilities. Autism in laymen terms is an otherwise healthy person that cannot either speak in a given language format, interact with others in a social setting, or becomes emotionally triggered by very normal functions of others around them. Autism studies have found a distinctive link with people diagnosed with autism and their unusually high heavy metal content in their blood. Mercury and lead seem to read high in their blood count. The body's ability to defuse or expunge certain metals causes a build up or high concentration of these metals and the link suggests that this build up of heavy metals seems to block certain social solving skills in the brain. Retention of these heavy metals in the body creates a severe imbalance in the ratio of active to inactive glutathione, the body's most important tool for detoxifying and excreting metals. Glutathione works as an antioxidant, which regulates the potentially destructive process of oxidative stress caused both by normal metabolism and environmental contaminants. Autistic children showed a significant impairment in every one of five measurements of the body's ability to maintain a healthy glutathione defense. Autism has increased 10-fold from 6 in 10,000 in the 1980s, to about 60 in 10,000 today. Boys are higher candidates than girls of having autism. Since the discovery link of heavy metals in autistic people, there are some studies that suggest that if you can reduce or aid in expunging metal content from the body through the skin's pores using a special cream, testing has shown to produce some very significant, almost immediate results. So how does these heavy metals get into the body? One very elusive method that we seldom hear about is through vaccines. The preservatives that were placed in the vaccines were found to have adverse affects that could account for some of this metal build up. As of 2002 these preservatives have been removed. Our food supply is also a big contributor of metals. Fish and shellfish can contain high levels of mercury. Women would are of child bearing age are warned to avoid these foods if they are anticipating pregnancy. Green leafy plants can retain levels of lead from the soil. So, basically you can come in contact with several ways of ingesting these offensive metals. The intake is not as much the problem, as the releasing of these essential minerals. If a person cannot release these minerals, then the build-up appears to cause or at least contribute to the symptoms of autism. Autism is not something to be ashamed of, understand that your child is relying on you to get the help they need asap, for a more responsive life. Bottom line is to have a child tested as soon as you notice certain behavioral problems that just aren't normal. For instance, - autistic children will avoid eye to eye contact - they don't interact with other children well, they like playing alone - they don't form words, or mimic your coaching words - they can be sensitive to normal sounds, like that of a vacuum cleaner - they tend to want to line up there toys in straight lines and become upset if they are rearranged - they can indicate they are hungry, yet when food is given, they reject it - they may want an item but not accept it from you by hand, they prefer to pick it up themselves when they decide the time is right While some of these symptoms, done separately, may not suggest autism, it's the collection of a larger group of items listed that tend to send signals that testing would be advised. When asking your doctor if they think your child is okay or normal, please alert the doctor to have your child tested for high levels of heavy metals and explain some of the child's odd mannerisms. Doctors don't have the same perceptions as you simply from a doctor's visit. Being more verbal with your concerns for your child as soon as you notice their different behaviors could greatly improve by treatments as early as possible. Doctors in general do not consider testing for autism before the age of 3 years, but if you have seen some of the behaviors listed above, remember, you can suggest to the doctor to do some testing for autism earlier than your child's 3rd birthday. President Bush recently signed the Combating Autism Act of 2006 bill on December 19, 2006. This bill, widely applauded by autism activists groups, authorizes nearly $1 billion over the next five years to combat autism through research, screening, early detection and early intervention. The new legislation will increase federal spending on autism by at least fifty percent. Please support their efforts whenever and wherever possible. http://wealthsmith.com/autism-symptoms-autism-cure.htm Jim has found a disorder that has touched him on a personal level and he is becoming a strong advocate for a cure of autism. To have so much knowledge available the cure is within our grasp. Small Things Can be the Source of Happiness, or The Rewards for Feeling Sorry

By Elisabeth Mcgill When it comes to plants, I am a sucker for the underdog, probably because I think that they all deserve a chance. I feel sorry for the half dead geranium on the bargain table at the store, for the neglected volunteer dill between my neighbor's tomatoes. Giving them the right environment and care so that they can flourish is one of the great sources of happiness for me. During a visit to a local nursery a few years back I saw, amongst all the colorful, spectacularly blooming spring flowers, a plant that attracted my attention because it was so poorly looking and so little outstanding. It was the only one of its kind, and consisted of just a clump of dark green, smooth, sword like leaves; exotic to me because I did not know what it was. There was no name and the lady at the cash register didn't know either. She let me have it for one dollar. I took it home and since I knew not what requirements it had, I planted it into a larger pot until such a time when I could identify what it was. Looking through my Sunset Garden book to see what it might be did not get me very far, since I had no name to search for and none of the pictures looked anything like what I had. Time went by, my mystery plant blended in with all my other plants and I paid little attention to its progress. One day I noticed some funny, wooly, one-sided spikes emerge from the clump, then tubular, hairy flowers in yellow-green tinged with red opened up. They were striking, curved at the tips. Finally I could put a name to my exotic acquisition, Anigozanthos, more commonly known as Kangaroo Paw. Aptly named, for indeed, the tips of these hairy flowers are split into six segments making them look just like a paw and they are natives to the open eucalyptus forests of western Australia. Light sandy soil or heavier soil with good drainage is one of the requirements for good growth. They love full sun and are thirsty plants that do not like to dry out. They tolerate temperatures to just above freezing and can be brought indoors in winter where they love a sunny window. Liquid fertilizer applications every two weeks during the blooming period are recommended. Since I live in a mild climate, I have planted my Kangaroo Paw in the ground and it has grown into a magnificent specimen. The flowering spikes are at least 4-5 feet tall. They bloom from late spring to fall if I cut the spent stems to the ground. As a bonus, the flowers attract hummingbirds. Today this is one of my favorites. Everybody comments because it is such a huge and unusual plant and all this because I felt sorry for the poor thing. The author has a Home and Garden Decor business where she makes sure that her customers get the best deal as well as expert advice. She is also an avid gardener with many years of experience and likes to share her knowledge with others.

Beach Decorating for Adults and Kids

By Carl Strohmeyer One way to bring back memories of a summer at the beach is through beach themed decorating and crafts for the kids. I like to start with the bathroom (for me the most obvious room to start with); there you can add pictures, either sketches or framed photographs to the walls. I think enlarging your own picture (especially if it includes the family) looks best.
Towels with starfish, seahorses, seashells, of fish look great. Again, as with the picture, I think it can be more enjoyable for the family if you start with plain towels and wash clothes, then sew on or embroider your own beach or ocean themed designs. Soaps can also have a beach theme. Place your soaps in a shell container, or even make decorative soap by carving your own designs in them (Ivory soap works great for this).
A fishing net embedded with starfish (or even a puffer fish) hung near the tops of the walls really brings home the beach theme for me. Then there are decorative shell baskets (which are easy to find on-line). These seashell baskets can be placed on shelves or just the toilet reservoir. A final touch to the walls would be a shell night light to add evening illumination to the bathroom.
One more suggestion if one is feeling industrious is the flooring. You can find linoleum tiles that have fish, shells, or anything beach related and place these on the floor to finalize your bathroom. As for the kids; the shell baskets I mentioned earlier are an inexpensive way to get the kids involved. These baskets usually come with many different seashells that can be used to make all sorts of design, murals or beach diorama. The diorama is my favorite for kids. Use the shells, some fine sand, maybe some starfish (there are inexpensive dried starfish available on the internet), and even some plastic fish. Use blue plastic film to represent the ocean, cotton balls for clouds, maybe a toy boat too. The little drink umbrellas are great to use as beach umbrellas. You can glue broken shells together to form a reef too. This project could also be used for the kids to make inexpensive Christmas gifts for family members that show a little more thought than the average gift. The garden is where my wife likes to add a little more ocean themed flair. She enjoys the Pangansin shell wind chime with the urchin spines that make musical notes. I personally more like the flowing beauty of a stairway (spiral) shell wind chime. In the garden next to a hammock or just lawn chairs is a good place to hang the shell wind chimes. You can even construct a more life-like out door diorama using a small pond with a fountain head, beach sand or whatever similar is available, again some starfish and seashells and you have your own personal beach space. This can be a little more difficult in colder climates, but the pond can be turned off in the winter, and/or covered with a tarp to prevent damage from falling leaves or whatever else fall and winter bring. For more ideas and interesting posts, "Ocean Decor" also may be off interest. Enjoy! Creative Coping - Who Becomes Depressed?

By John Duggan SOME BASICS Clinical depressions fall into the caregory of mental health conditions called "mood disorders." There are many types of depressions, each with it's own signs, symptoms, root causes and treatment. Anyone may experience mood disorders (such as a form of clinical depression). Yes, anyone ... and that includes you and me. Don't stop reading now ... there's great hope for treatment! Some folks, describe "depression" as the "common cold" of mental health. This is not meant to trivialize the experience of clinical depression. This analogy, in my interpretation, suggests that mood disorders are common experiences in our culture. Nobody "catches" depression, the mode that viruses or bacterial infections are transmitted. There are some factors which increase vulnerability. This article explores a few, explaining why self-care, social support and life-style balance are important factors to promote wellness. AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY DIS-EASE Depression does not discriminate. Anyone may experience a mood disorder. Factors such as ethnicity, education, income, and interpersonal relationships are variables in the "big equation." These factors (like many others) influence one's capacity for emotional and physical wellness -- yet no single variable / experience determines it. For along while, clinicians believed the major forms of depression affected slightly more women than men. Research now suggests that mood disorders, such as clinical depressions, are "equal oportunity" experiences. Men are equally vulnerable: the signs and symptoms differ from person to person, based on genetics, life-experience, gender, type of depression, age, etc. In response to the growing number of men who faiedl to receive any form of adequate assessment and treatment, the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) created a public service campaign for men. This campaign offers resources, real-life tales and support to encourage men (and those who love them) to examine signs and symptoms of depressive experiences. The campaign, entitled "Real Men, Real Depression," is an excellent program ... exploring the lives of men who brave social stigma, perceived shame and fear in order to seek treatment and recovery. NATURE AND NURTUE Some researchers believe that individuals with a history of emotional and sexual abuse or economic deprivation, or who are dependent on others, are especially vulnerable to depression. In future articles, we'll explore how "minority stress,' over-working or diminished self-care may increase ones' vulnerability to developing a form of depression. There also seems to be a genetic link: depression is more common among parents, children, and siblings of people diagnosed with depression. The average age at which a depressive episode first occurs is in the mid-20s, although this is not "set in stone." People born more recently are being diagnosed at a younger age. SO WHAT (DOES THIS MEAN)? Experiences of stress, trauma, status as a cultural minority, genetics, diet collectively influence our mental and physical wellness. These factors influence the functioning of our body, right down to the ability of our immune system to remain vital and responsive. Most members of our society do not experience physical exertion; therefore, low-grade stressors and lack-of-rest (sleep hygiene) are common experiences. Lack of knowledge of resources or fear of stigma (or perhaps good old denial) are serious issues. Following an "inner desire" to alievate emotional distress associated with depression, many individuals turn to "self medicating" behaviors. uch behaviors include: diet (eating sweets, excessive carbs), alcohol (depressants), social isolation, diminished sleep or sexual habits, or craving tobbacco, niccotine and other substances (stimulants). There are several logical reasons why a person turns these coping stategies (psychological, biological, social, and other reasons beyond the socope of this article). In the end; however, none of these behaviors are comprehesive mental health interventions. Unknowingly, they typically make our physical and emotional health worse. A viscious cycle may develop: "self coping strategies" back-fire and become substance dependence / abuse, eating or sleeping disorders. This becomes an additional physical/emotional disorder which must be treated concurrently with the underlying clinical depression. If you or I frequently relapse into cycles of any form of clinical depression without appropriate treatment, our capacity for a quicker, more comprehensive recovery diminishes. Why? Like any other health condition, earlier intervention, assessment and proper treatment is essential. Early intervention reduces the potential risk for relapse and typically minimizes additional health risks (called "comorbid factors," such as dependency or abuse of substances). CONCLUSION Depression affects thousands of people in the United States. It is always troubling, yet for some people it can be severely disabling. Depression is more than just sadness or the blues; it can impact nearly every aspect of a persons life. People who suffer from it may experience despair and worthlessness, feelings that can greatly influence both personal and professional relationships. Many of the factors which evoke depression are described, and strategies for preventing depression are explored. When a person suffers from depression, it can affect every part of his/her life, including ones physical body, behavior, thought processes, mood, ability to relate to others, and general lifestyle. Many folks report body aches, insomnia, lack of interest and difficulty with decisions. "Creative Coping" is a series of mental wellness articles written and distributed by www.dcDiversity.com. Antidepressants and Phototherapy

By Marcello Lanares Antidepressants are used commonly in medical and psychiatric practice. As a class, antidepressants have in common their ability to treat major depressive illness. Most antidepressants are also effective in the treatment of panic disorder and other anxiety disorders. Some antidepressants effectively treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and a variety of other conditions (see indications below). The most commonly prescribed antidepressants are listed in Table 12-1. Antidepressants are subdivided into groups based on structure or prominent functional activity: selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRls), tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOls), and other antidepressant compounds with a variety of mechanisms of action. Antidepressants are typically thought to act on either the serotonin or norepinephrine systems, or both. Choice of medications typically depends on diagnosis, history of response (in patient or relative), and the side-effect profile of the medication. Antidepressant effects are typically not seen until 2 to 4 weeks into treatment. Side effects must be carefully monitored, especially for TCAs and MAOls. Indications Table 12-2 lists the indications for antidepressants.
The main indication for antidepressant medications is major depressive disorder as defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition (DSM-IV). Antidepressants are used in the treatment of all subtypes of depression, including depressed phase of bipolar disorder, psychotic depression (in combination with an antipsychotic medication), atypical depression, and seasonal depression. Antidepressants also are indicated for the prevention of recurrent depressive episodes. Antidepressant medications may be effective in the treatment of patients with dysthymic disorder, especially when there are clear neurovegetative signs or a history of response to antidepressants. Panic disorder with or without agoraphobia has been shown to respond to SSRls, MAOls, TCAs, and high-potency benzodiazepines (alprazolam and clonazepam). OCD has been shown to respond to the serotonin-selective tricyclic clomipramine (Anafranil) and to SSRIs at high doses (e.g., fluoxetine at 60-80mg/ day). Obsessions tend to be more responsive to pharmacotherapy than compulsions. Symptoms of OCD respond more slowly than symptoms of major depression. Trials of 12 weeks or more are needed before a medication can be ruled a failure for an OCD patient. The binging and purging behavior of bulimia has been shown to respond to SSRls, TCAs, and MAOls in several open and controlled trials. Because SSRIs have the most benign side-effect profile of these medications, they are often the first-line psychopharmacologic treatment. Mechanisms of Action Antidepressants are thought to exert their effects at particular subsets of neuronal synapses throughout the brain. Their major interaction is with the monoamine neurotransmitter systems (dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin). Dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin are released throughout the brain by neurons that originate in the ventral brainstem, locus ceruleus and the raphe nuclei, respectively. These neurotransmitters interact with numerous receptor subtypes in the brain that are associated with the regulation of global state functions including appetite, mood states, arousal, vigilance, attention, and sensory processing. SSRls act by binding to presynaptic serotonin reuptake proteins, thereby inhibiting reuptake and increasing the levels of serotonin in the synaptic cleft. TCAs act by blocking presynaptic reuptake of both serotonin and norepinephrine. MAOls act by inhibiting the presynaptic enzyme (monoamine oxidase) that catabolizes norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin, thereby increasing the levels of these neurotransmitters presynaptically. These immediate mechanisms of action are not sufficient to explain the delayed antidepressant effects (typically 2 to 4 weeks). Other unknown mechanisms must play a role in the successful psychopharmacologic treatment of depression. Crafts & Hobbies: How I Spent My Summer Vacation

By Rondi Davis The song says it all, "Hot Fun in the Summertime. Our summer was certainly full of fun: outdoor barbeques, neighborhood cookouts, making ice cream, 4th of July parades, a trip to grandpas house, sleeping late, moving my oldest daughter into her first apartment It never seems like the season is long enough to do everything we want to do. Now that the summer is almost over, how do we preserve these memories? Take a few minutes before the busy routine of school begins to put together a family album of summer keepsakes. Whether its in a scrapbook, photo album, or shoebox, these mementoes chronicle tidbits of family life that often become lasting traditions. Your kids will love showing friends and family how they spent their summer vacation. Want a quick and easy way to make a time capsule of your summer vacation? Make a keepsake jar. Find a large, clean, wide mouth jar (mayonnaise jars work well) to hold your treasures.
Paint and decorate the lid. Gather together pictures, ticket stubs, sea shells, maps, souvenirs, pressed flowers or anything that has sentimental value from you summer vacation. Write names and dates on the back of photographs. Place all of your items inside the jar. On brightly colored paper, write a few notes about each event. You may want to interview other family members for their thoughts as well. Preserve your summer stories in a place of honor. Kids will enjoy getting their keepsake jar down to tell stories for many summers to come. And, dont forget to snap a picture on the first day of school. We take a photograph in the same spot every year. My daughter is leaving for her first year of college. In the opening pages of her scrapbook are all of the pictures we had taken on the first day of school. From the scared preschooler with the little lamb name tag, to the confident, beautiful young woman she blossomed into, each picture was truly worth a thousand words. How Does SMS Service Actually Work?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joe_Macon]Joe Macon Short message service (SMS) is a wildly popular feature available on most digital mobile phones. SMS allows users to send short messages to other cell phones. These short messages are called text messages. SMS was invented by a Finnish civil servant named Matti Makkonen. Many people understand what SMS is, but few understand how it actually works. In SMS, messages are sent with a store-and-forward mechanism. The messages are sent to a Short Message Service Center (SMSC), and then relayed to the intended recipient. If the messages do not reach the recipient upon the first attempt, then the SMSC will try again. It is important to understand that SMS delivery is not guaranteed. Many messages cannot be delivered, but the delivery is called best effort. The amount of attempts to send a text message varies with the company. SMS messages are transmitted via SS7 within the standard GSM MAP framework. SMS messages have a certain payload length. The signaling protocol is precisely 140 bytes. In simple terms, SMS messages have very constrained character limits. This is why messages are sent in txt speak. Text speak is the practice of shortening words and phrases in order to fit messages into the allowed amount of bandwidth. SMS messages cost different amounts in different countries. In the United States, the average message costs 10 cents. Text messages do not always have to be sent from mobile phone to mobile phone. AOL Instant Messenger has an option that will send instant messages to a cell phone. Additionally, there is a widget available for Mac OS X Tiger that will allow a user to send text messages to a cell phone from the dashboard. SMS messages can also be utilized to give news alerts. Additionally, SMS messages can be used to give sports updates and statistics. In this way, SMS messages are very versatile. Technology is constantly evolving. SMS services prove that communication is becoming broader and easier. Technologists predict that SMS service will advance such that the service will be more reliable, and be able to store more data for the purpose of transmission. Joe Macon writes about a variety of technology topics, with a focus on SMS technology. Spot Reduction - Fact or Fiction?

By Susan Derry Despite the promises of gadgets or exercises for spot reduction, it is impossible to choose where you will lose fat on your body. Muscles do not control the fat that surrounds them. Fat cells throughout your body reduce in size in response to burning more calories than those consumed. There is no exercise that will remove fat from a particular part of your body. Exercise burns calories, and if your intake of calories is less than your output of energy, you will burn stored fat. Usually the last deposited fat cell will be the first to be used. Meaning that the area of your body where you first noticed fat gain, will often be the last hold out when it comes to fat loss. Although spot reduction is simply one of many weight loss myths, exercise can help with trouble spots in other ways. Exercising leads to greater loss of abdominal fat than dieting alone. Aerobic activity encourages the release of abdominal fat. This is encouraging for men, who often carry their excess weight in their abdomen. Women can also lose abdominal fat through aerobic activity, however, their trouble spots are often their thighs and hips. Strength or weight training can help to tone muscles in trouble areas. Toned muscles give more definition and shape to your body. As well, an increase in lean muscle mass can boost your metabolism, so that you will be burning more calories all day everyday. Stretching helps by increasing flexibility. It can also help improve posture. Good posture is the quickest way to improve your appearance. Standing up straight and tall can make you look several pounds lighter. Try standing in front of a full-length mirror. First slouch and take a look at your reflection; now stand up straight and notice how much fuller your chest and how much smaller your waist appears. A combination of aerobic activity, strength training and stretching is the best way to improve fitness and physical appearance. Susan Derry

Business and Market Overview on Philippines

By Khal Mastan ECONOMY. Philippines's economy suffered through mismanagement under the country's late president Marcos who ruled the country under martial law from the 1960s to 1980s. To revive the country's economy, former president Fidel Ramos opened the country to foreign investments in the early 1990s. During Ramos' term in office, foreign investments increased from only US$42 million in 1992 to US$2 billion by 1997. The Philippines weathered the Asian economic crisis of 1997 in much better shape than many other Southeast Asian countries due to the large number of Filipino overseas workers regularly remitting money into the country and low external debt. Philippines GDP was US$85.1 billion with a GDP per capita of US$1,042 in 2004. The economy of the Philippines grew at annual GDP growth averaging 4.6% from 2000 to 2004 contributed mainly by growth in the service sector, agriculture and exports of electronics. Inflation declined from 6.5% in 2000 to 2.5% in 2002 but trended upwards to reach 8.6% by 2004. Unemployment remains relatively high compared to Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore ranging between 9.8% and 10.9% from 2000 to 2004. The service sector contributes to half or 52.8% of the Philippines GDP in 2004 while manufacturing contributed 31.8% and agriculture 15.3%. Major industries include electronics, garments, footwear, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, wood products, processed foods, petroleum refining and fishing. Major agriculture products include sugarcane, coconuts, rice, corn, bananas, cassavas, pineapples, mangoes and seafood. DEMOGRAPHY. The Philippines comprises of nearly 7,100 islands but eleven islands account for 90% of the country's total population. Main islands are Luzon and Mindanao accounting for 65% of the population. Other major but less populated islands include Negros, Samar, Panay and Palawan. Filipino society and culture is nearly homogeneous and 90% of the population are of the Malay descent. Other ethnic groups include the various indigenous tribes and Chinese immigrants. Spanish-Mexican culture brought by the former Spanish colonial rulers who ruled the country from Mexico has an influence of Filipino culture. The country is predominantly Catholic accounting for 81% of the population followed by various Christian denominations (11%) and Islam (5%). Tagalog is the national language and widely spoken across the islands while English is predominantly used in government and business. The proportion of the Filipino population living in the urban areas increased from 49% in 1990 to 62% by 2004. Philippines' main city is Metro Manila (comprising of the city of Manila and 16 surrounding cities and municipalities) has a population of 10 million. Other major cities include Zamboanga, Baguio, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu City, Davao and Cagayan de Oro. The Philippines suffers from a high level of income inequality and an estimated 30% of the population live below the poverty level. Another 50% of the population belong to the low-income group while the remaining 20% belonging to the middle and high-income group. The average income of those living in Metro Manila is twice than the national average. INFRASTRUCTURE. Telecommunication services within and between the islands is adequate while international services is relatively good. Internet broadband coverage is mainly concentrated in the major cities and towns of the islands. The islands are adequately served by roads and road transport. Travels between the islands are by air or coastal boats. All the major islands are served by international and domestic airports and sea ports. INTERNATIONAL TRADE. Philippiness exports increased nearly 4-folds from 1995 to 2004. Major trading partners include Japan, US, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and South Korea. Main exports from the Philippines include electronics, garments, optical instruments, coconut products, fresh produce, copper products and chemicals. Main imports include machineries, equipments, fuel, vehicles, transport equipments, plastics chemicals and food grains. CONSUMER USAGE OF TECHNOLOGY. The total number of fixed-line telephones installed in the Philippines was 3.4 million or a penetration of 8 fixed-line phones per 100 population in 2004. However, the penetration for mobile phones is much higher at 39 mobile phones per 100 population. The penetration of computers in the country is low estimated at 2% of the population while the estimated number of internet subscribers is 1.2 million and internet users is 8.0 million. The average penetration of televisions among households in the Philippines is 71% but higher in the Metro Manila at 96%. RETAIL MARKET. There are nearly 360,000 retail establishments and the traditional "mom and pop" stores account for 98% of the establishments. The remaining 2% are the store brands comprising of hypermarkets, supermarkets, department stores, convenience stores and speciality stores. Shopping in these establishments is popular among middle and high-income consumers. These modern outlets are mostly concentrated in Metro Manila accounting for 30% of the Philippines' total retail sales. However, many store brands are expanding their businesses outside Metro Manila into other major urban areas in Luzon and Mindanao. Between 2004 and 2007 and estimated three shopping malls will be built in the Philippines annually. FOOD CULTURE. Like most countries in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia, rice is the staple food in the Philippines. Filipino cooking is a blend of sweet, sour and spicy tastes. Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican and Spanish cooking have an influence on Filipino food culture. Traders and immigrants introduced Indian, Chinese and Japanese cooking while the Spanish colonial rulers introduced Mexican and Spanish cooking. Filipinos are also accustomed to western foods especially American style fast foods, bakeries and snacks. UFO: Dinosaur Poop

By John T Jones, Ph.D. Who says that nothing good can come out of Washington, D.C.? The Associated Press reported that Dinosaurs ate grasses. Scientists have found grasses in their poop. It was in the journal Science. Scientist didnt think that Dinosaurs had the teeth for grass. They liked to chew on palm tree bark and ferns like in the movies. (I added this last sentence for color.) It seems that the scientist were confused about grasses too. They sprouted much sooner than they thought. I guess they didnt read the Bible account. Here is a quaint sentence extracted by AP from the article: Most people would not have fashioned that they would eat grasses. That was said by Caroline Stromberg of the Swedish Museum of Natural History. She should know! Ill bet that museum is in Stockholm and I missed it when I was there! It was that gambling-for-fun table in the hotel lobby. Most folks out here in Idaho certainly would not have fashioned that dinosaurs ate grasses. However, I have fashioned that cows evolved from dinosaurs. Now that Science has printed the report that dinosaurs ate grasses, I now have the proof! I thank you researchers! The reason I know that cows came after the dinosaurs is that there are still plenty of cows around. They can scamper away from wolves, bears, and dingoes, but could not from dinosaurs. I heard that shuffle again. Without looking I said, SCRAM Xrytspet! Youre writing a bunch of crap again Taylor Jones, the hack writer. I said, What do you know about it? Cows did not descend from the dinosaurs. We brought them here so that our babies would have milk in 218892888376 B.Y. I said, B.Y.? Before You, Dodo! At least she didnt call me idiot, like she usually did. I said, I dont believe you, Xrytspet! The next thing I knew we were standing in a vast savannah. A huge space ship landed and out came a herd of cows. Out of nowhere, a herd of Tyrannous Rex came running toward the cattle. Zit! Zit! Zit! The dinosaurs all lay dead. Good Heavens, Xrytspet! I said, Now I know what happened to the dinosaurs! They didnt kill the all, said Xrytspet. You are such an idiot! CopyrightJohn T. Jones, Ph.D.2005 John T. In the Dark

By Kenneth C. Hoffman Lorrie flipped the pages of the magazine Lisa gave her. The pictures of the Caribbean started her thinking of her coming summer vacation. Today is the first day of Spring, she thought happily, and Summer will be here before she knew it. Suddenly a weird feeling swept over her body, grabbing all her muscles at once, arching her back violently. Her stiffened neck muscles slammed her head into the wooden headboard. Like a huge fist, her body strained with a vibrating tension, her heart pounding, feeling like it would burst out of her chest. Again. This time Lorrie let out a shriek that woke her husband in the next room. Thinking heart attack, Tom rushed Lorrie to the emergency clinic nearby. Waiting for the doctor he nervously held her sweating hands. He kept asking her what was wrong, but Lorrie just shook her head mumbling "Mommy, mommy" over and over. The doctor sent Tom out while he examined Lorrie, now nauseous and looking pale. No fever, heart beat elevated, no shaking in the limbs, no spasms in the duodenum, and blood pressure normal. A nurse took some blood for testing, the doctor sending Lorrie home to wait for a diagnosis. After an excruciating wait, one doctor recommended that Lorrie acquire a heart monitor for a week. Another prescribed strong digestion pills for her duodenum problem and a third wanted a psychiatric examination. The heart monitor proved that nothing was wrong with her heart, the stomach medicine caused nasal bleeding and the psychiatrist was totally unsympathetic and wanted her to snap out of it. Fortunately, Lorrie got to see a brain specialist, a doctor who was in on the invention of the PET scan, a device that maps the different active areas of the brain. A thorough testing revealed that Lorrie's brain had a chemical imbalance, causing all of her recent symptoms. A week's stay in the hospital was advised and her response to at least a dozen different medications was unfortunately unproductive. During the following months Lorrie could not function normally. She sometimes had to be fed by hand, a catatonic-like state taking over her mind. There were numerous attempts of suicide. Careful watching saved her life several times. Lorrie was caught in the middle of the night heading for the railroad tracks. All sharp tools had to be hidden. When asked how she felt, she could only say that everything looked black (this on a sunny day). Fountains of unneeded tears flowed down her cheeks, the constant singing of hymns in a high, tearful voice, and anything higher than the floor would cause her extreme anxiety. Only after eleven sessions of mild shock treatment were there any signs of improvement. It took three years of minute adjustment of the medication of choice, but Lorrie finally could say she was almost totally cured. Occasional lapses of depression were to be expected and experienced but Lorrie coped with these periods bravely. One in five women have serious depressions and men are not immune. A high percentage of the new papers written by research doctors are about the problems associated with the treatment of depression. Of the hundreds of proteins found in the brain, only ten per cent are fully known. Depression is not a condition a person can 'snap out of'. Much patience and understanding is needed to help bring these unfortunate victims back to full function. Among my interests are graphic art, bicycling, furniture refinishing, reading and photography. Beware of Older Men Lying About Their Age

By Peter Portero When you start dating online, you might run across many types of people. Some will be open and honest about who they are and their physical appearance and others will not. You may find people who have photos that make them look skinnier, taller, curvier, shorter, younger, or older and find out they are none of these things in real life when you meet them. Of course, to give everyone an ounce of understanding, anyone who signs up with a dating service online tries to make everything about them look perfect. Many people figure that if they show the real sides of them, no one would want to date them at all. So instead, they lie and hope it goes unnoticed. One group of people that lie a lot is older men. For some reason, once a man hits 45, he feels as if he needs to lie about his age. Although the trend is not labeled to men as much as it is to women, men do tend to lie and say they are younger. So, when you are searching for those little white lies online, be sure to beware of older men lying about their age. Give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but truly trust no one until you get to know them well. Peter Portero works for Love Semora and Shaadi Bliss. Sketching Your Payment Plan

By Debbie White When you are starting the debt settlement process, the most crucial part is to sketch your payment plan well. First, you have to be able to make the regular payments, and second, the creditor has to agree with it. To sketch an optimal Payment Plan that will get you out of debt, you will need to follow the next steps one by one and review each topic thoroughly. 1. Interest Rate Negotiation: it is one of the most important parts of the plan because a successful interest rate negotiation can and will save you a lot of money. Try to reduce as much as you can in order to reduce the principal debt amount. Your interest rates could get eliminated if your payment plan ranges in a 6-month period. 2. Automatic Savings Deposit: you will need to setup your checking account to automatically transfer money to your savings account. When you accumulate a substantial amount of money, the debt settlement program can be closed for one of the accounts. 3. Old resources may be helpful: make use of old savings accounts, stocks, bonds, mutual funds and any kind of investment to negotiate. By using a large sum of money you could achieve up to 60% of savings, . 4. Ask friends and family for help: do not feel ashamed to ask for help among your circle of friends or your family members. This is a great way to raise funds in order to negotiate a good deal. 5. Insurance policies: you can always use a percentage from your insurance policy to repay your debts. The great thing about it is that you do not have to repay it. Even better, the withdrawn amount is deducted from the policy. 6. Using your assets: if you have valuable assets, sell them to obtain funds. Having lots of assets may be a problem if you ask for Debt Settlement because the creditor could get the entire debt amount without giving you any reduction. 7. Procure an extra income: whenever you can, try to find a second job to increase your income. In doing so, you can reach the Debt Settlement requirements, and you can also start saving money to complete the debt settlement for certain accounts. A saving plan can also be very helpful in the long term. You can always count on the saved money to bargain for a major reduction on your debts. Above all, we recommend people always look for professional help because counselors know the collection agencies and the creditors. That is why they have an edge during the negotiation process and will surely get you the best debt settlement plan in order to achieve the ultimate goal: become debt free. Sacred Love - Living on Purpose in a Relationship is the Key to Long Term Love

By Christopher Walker "Give me a few hours by myself, let me alone, shut out all interruptions, and I can bring myself down to my work. I take my pen in hand. I write a few thoughts. I see the future. And realise my responsibility. The more I think of the duty placed on me, the graver since my responsibility. Every idea has weight. I can see the effect of days ahead."
Life Purpose We speak of life purpose. Actually there
is nothing on earth that is not on your purpose.
Your ultimate purpose is to learn love and everything you do will teach you that.
Whether you are in hospital, permanently different, being challenged.
You are on purpose if you can learn to love more from life.
Develop an inward belief in the sacredness of the whole
And that man can be in tune with this sacredness.
That there is a universe of love, and our ego is yet to see it
Is the journey we are on, with purpose.
Place your mind on truthfulness and use purification
to remove the "dust" which conceals our inherently divine nature
and thus receive the blessings.
Your spirit is a holy power
living in the real world.
All living things possess the Divine
This is being inspired
Observe all taboos
avoid things that cause toxin and pollution.
Make your prayers and offerings
to the temples of your life
Worship the Gods and Goddesses,
in which you place your faith.
The sacred fire is the symbol that fights evil,
It is the great purifier and sustainer,
It is the nature of the sun itself.
So keep a flame burning in your heart. To live your life purpose, you will rise to a point where there is nothing to change in the world. You are no longer polarised by the idea of right and wrong, and instead see that every action, no matter whether it is good or bad, results in a pro and a con. You will act because you love it. You might help the poor, not because it is right, but because you love doing that. You might make love to your partner, not because this is some obligation or because it is right or wrong, but because this is what you love to do. Love replaces right and wrong. There is a sense of completion, you are fulfilled, and no longer need to change anyone or yourself. Then you simply go about your life, giving and loving people, because you find great joy in it. There is no need to tell anyone what you do, because the ego is not important. Now, the reason that you are in relationship is because your lover is a part of your purpose in life. It is not a right relationship, or a wrong relationship, it is both right and wrong, with food for your growth. You are together because from this home you can build the work you love, the gift you love to give. Your life purpose cannot be lived in a righteous home, or a home where your partner is out of phase with you. Your partner cannot be twenty years behind, worrying about their second level or themselves. Their priorities have to match yours. This only means love. They and you must prioritise love over all the other values. This means resource sharing, working to support and challenge each other. Working on projects together, bringing your unique purposes to one place, sharing your gifts, being in love in your relationship and your work, for your souls. This is consciousness of purpose. Not right, not good, not better, not about wealth, not about appearances, not about self. Right and wrong, good and bad. For better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, this is the real marriage of souls, a purpose of love, beyond the self gratification of the ego, a love that binds us, forever, all the days of our lives, together or apart. To have a sacred relationship, youll need to reveal a higher purpose for your relationship. A purpose greater than your individual happiness. Find a reason to live and work together, more than just happiness, and you will begin to extend the honeymood already. The longer the time frame of your dreams and purpose, the more sustainable will be your love. The more you can feel that your relationship is instrumental in helping you live your purpose in life, the greater your sense of devotion to it. If you are not on purpose, you are working on lower priorities, and will develop resentment toward the relationship and your loved one. If your relationship begins to focus on lower priorities (things not connected to your dreams and purpose), then the more you will attract calamities, disasters and humbling circumstances. Once you both have a sense of your life purpose, then all secondary decisions and choices are more effectively made. Youll know where to live, how to bring up children, what is possible from a time perspective, and on the negative side, what would destroy your love. If a person is not working on purpose, then they will be extremely discontent. All your decisions and choices stem from this primary life purpose. So, in your relationship with purpose, there is a solid foundation for making positive choices for the future. If you know your lovers life purpose you can understand them, support them and merge your destiny with them. If your life purpose is based on doing what you love, it follows that all other choices that flow from this will also be based on your love. Without this clarity, couples begin to push and pull, struggling with who is important or confused, between short term outcomes and long term ones. Uncertainty and emotion result. No matter what life choices you both make, they all have a balance of pros and cons. So why not make choices which bring the most fulfillment. If there is no clarity, then all choices are emotional, to feed the ego, and this kills passion and love. Your life purpose is the centre around which your sacred relationship can function. You can compromise everything else, as long as your sense of purpose is solid. Your relationship will thrive if you are both on purpose. Perceptions of being on purpose leads to actions, which lead to rewards. Purpose leads to procedures, leads to results. Our compulsory educational system, which requires almost a third of a lifetime in pursuit of learning, produces little or no originality, teaches nothing of the fundamental purpose of human existence, and ignores entirely the most basic aspect of being, the Soul. We have built up an intellectual civilisation and have entirely neglected the powers of the Soul. The intellect unguided by Cosmic law or love is shrewd, cruel and divergent in its results and humankind is becoming lost in the products of such efforts. We must now arise above that which we have put together and learn to control it. There is no purpose in increasing the size, comfort, speed and material beauty of civilisation if we do not have the vision and character to use them to advantage. This can be only be done by bringing ourselves into consciousness of the Cosmic pattern of life achieved through universal law and a sense of our purpose within it. There can never be enough of anything to make the ego happy. No amount of physical lovemaking makes the ego happy for more than a week. No amount of self righteousness and moral chest beating can make us feel that we are lovable, no amount of romance can make us say, That is enough, I am satisfied, and no amount of material wealth can make us say Goodness, thats enough, I think I will work for free. No the ego is an animal of instinct, but it can never sustain happiness. Having a purpose each means there is a big commitment. A devotion to each other. Then you can continually work on ensuring that your ego does not get priority over love in your relationship. Know your purpose, bring this to your relationship, and pin it to the wall. Forget the wedding certificate, the real contract of love is to help your lover live on purpose. If you achieve this, they will never leave. Your life purpose is an egoless aspiration. One that can never be achieved. It is a devotion, a commitment, a higher reason for your life. Your commitment and devotion to your purpose can change, but your purpose cannot. . When this happens your relationships struggle. Devotion to a purpose greater than yourself is a wonderful reason to be in a relationship. You cannot give what you havent got, so growing in love in a relationship can support your purpose. On the other hand, a negative home, one where emotional laundry is washed in the space of your relationship, can distract purpose. To be inspired in life requires a special devotion. The average relationship can thrive on emotional drama and noisy abuse. But this is not the mark of love, nor will it create a home for inspired living. So, to live on purpose, and be inspired, your relationship, your home, your process, will need to be refined. To find your life purpose, you will need to find your deepest motive in your life. Here are some questions that may help: 1/ What was missing when I was a child 0-3 years old?
2/ What have I been searching for all my life?
3/ What would I love to do all day every day and be paid extremely well for doing it?
4/ If there was one thing I would love to share before I die, one piece of advice I would love to leave as my testimonial, what would it be, and to whom would I give it?
5/ If I was stripped of all my worldly possessions, humiliated in from of everyone I know, what would be the one thing that they couldnt take from me? What would I know?
6/ List your heart driven love list, for each of the seven areas of life. List who you would love to be do have in the seven areas of life. The professor from Harvard was on holiday in Mexico, he stood at his hotel window looking out over the ocean and each day he noticed a fisherman, That fisherman left the shored in his little boat each morning at 5.00am and returned at 7.00am. He unloaded his fish, took a breakfast and was finished his days work by 10.00am. Then he sat beneath the coconut tree and enjoyed the rest of the day in bliss. The Harvard professor approached the fisherman and suggested that with three boats he could employ others and make more money. The fisherman borrowed money and eventually had three boats going out each day. Then the professor suggested that with a fleet of boats the fisherman would really be well off, in fact they could list on the stock exchange. They did so, and the professor then suggested that if they can raise their share price, the fisherman would be rich enough to go down to Mexico, find himself a little boat, he could go out every morning at any time he chose and come back, have his breakfast and then sit under a coconut tree for the rest of the day in bliss. Merchant Account for Restaurant Owners

By Shane Penrod A merchant account for restaurant owners may be just the thing to help your business grow. If you have experimented with several marketing techniques and feel that you are ready to venture into e-commerce, this might be the venue you need to help your business really take off and start bringing in high-level profits. Many banks and financial institutions that offer Visa and MasterCard accounts can provide a merchant account for restaurant owners. After building a solid community reputation and maintaining a clean credit history, you will have the credentials you need to apply for a merchant account. Keep in mind that the banks underwriters may not feel comfortable conferring this privilege to companies that are involved in questionable activities like pornography, spam, mail drug orders, and so on. Some merchant account providers will let you complete the application online, taking just minutes to fill out. Your merchant account for restaurant owners could be approved in a matter of hours or days. The company may send a confirming email message or you might receive a letter in the mail. Either way, you probably will not have to wait very long for an answer, and then a few days more and your credit card processor will be installed and ready for use on the premises of your restaurant. If you make home or business deliveries, staff members who transport orders can process credit card payments when you equip them with a portable wireless unit. They wont have to worry about carrying cash for change or accepting a check that may bounce at the bank. After receiving a merchant account for restaurant owners, you may decide to put up a restaurant Website for marketing purposes. Your Website can feature attractive photos of inside and outside the restaurant location, along with a map and driving instructions that can be downloaded. The site might include a menu with posted specials as they become available on the schedule. A price list or wine list might be helpful, along with a brief bio of the owner, manager, hostess, or head chef with photos. Food arranging or meal planning tips might be offered weekly to keep customers coming back for the newest postings on your Website, which serves as a marketing tool and a bridge that keeps customers connected to your restaurant when they are not visiting. You may even want to include an occasional discount coupon or free beverage, which will serve as added inducements to keep people coming back. The more comfortable they become with visiting your Website, the more likely they are to place orders and pay online. Learning to surf the Web as a restaurant owner with a merchant account can be both fun and challenging. You will enjoy the opportunity of presenting your eatery to the world via the Web pages posted at your site and then checking messages and payments to appreciate your impact on the global community. These are some of the attractive benefits of a merchant account for restaurant owners. Enhancing Communication in Marriage

By Nancy Wasson In marriages, many arguments and hurt feelings can be traced back to communication problems. It's not unusual for spouses to stay in a continual state of frustration, feeling misunderstood and unappreciated. Unexpressed feelings can pile up and poison the relationship.
When you repress your anger, it will always come out later, usually after something minor has upset you. You may find that it's difficult to have a complete conversation without you or your spouse leaving the room before the conflict is resolved. The emotional buttons that your spouse pushes in you can make you want to bolt and get away from your uncomfortable feelings and reactions. Learning to communicate more effectively with your spouse requires that you be fully present and attentive. You have to be committed to really listening and hearing, not only with your ears but also with your heart. You want to eliminate any communication blocks that prevent you and your partner from growing in understanding and intimacy. Communication blocks are anything that you do, verbally or non-verbally, to keep you from connecting deeply with another person. Some examples of communication blocks in marriage are: * Rolling your eyes and looking resigned or exasperated when your spouse is talking; * Sighing deeply and loudly when your spouse is sharing his/her viewpoint; * Looking at your watch or a clock repeatedly; * Not stopping what you're doing when your spouse is trying to have a serious talk with you; * Not making eye contact and not giving your partner your undivided attention; * Using the time when your spouse is talking to think about other things unrelated to the conversation; * Tuning your spouse out because you've heard the same thing repeatedly and are convinced it's the same old speech; * Becoming defensive and angry immediately instead of showing your partner the respect of hearing him/her out; * Belittling your spouse, name calling, cursing, shaking or pointing a finger, or getting in his/ her face. * Interrupting your partner before he/she is finished talking. It has been said that for every minute you are angry with someone, you lose sixty seconds of happiness that you can never get back. It just makes good sense to do everything you can to preserve the good will and intimacy of your marriage when conflict, anger, hurt feelings, and disagreements occur. If you truly love your partner, you will not want to rip him/her to shreds verbally, or to ignore or discount differing opinions and beliefs. You will want to do everything you can to insure that you have quality communication in your relationship and that you are communicating your caring, love, and respect to your spouse Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The most important thing in any relationship is not what you get but what you give." While you cannot control how someone else will react to your efforts, you can commit to doing all you can to create a safe environment where intimacy can flourish. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Nancy J. Wasson, Ph.D., is co-author of Keep Your Marriage: What to Do When Your Spouse Says "I don't love you anymore!"
