How Does SMS Service Actually Work?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joe_Macon]Joe Macon Short message service (SMS) is a wildly popular feature available on most digital mobile phones. SMS allows users to send short messages to other cell phones. These short messages are called text messages. SMS was invented by a Finnish civil servant named Matti Makkonen. Many people understand what SMS is, but few understand how it actually works. In SMS, messages are sent with a store-and-forward mechanism. The messages are sent to a Short Message Service Center (SMSC), and then relayed to the intended recipient. If the messages do not reach the recipient upon the first attempt, then the SMSC will try again. It is important to understand that SMS delivery is not guaranteed. Many messages cannot be delivered, but the delivery is called best effort. The amount of attempts to send a text message varies with the company. SMS messages are transmitted via SS7 within the standard GSM MAP framework. SMS messages have a certain payload length. The signaling protocol is precisely 140 bytes. In simple terms, SMS messages have very constrained character limits. This is why messages are sent in txt speak. Text speak is the practice of shortening words and phrases in order to fit messages into the allowed amount of bandwidth. SMS messages cost different amounts in different countries. In the United States, the average message costs 10 cents. Text messages do not always have to be sent from mobile phone to mobile phone. AOL Instant Messenger has an option that will send instant messages to a cell phone. Additionally, there is a widget available for Mac OS X Tiger that will allow a user to send text messages to a cell phone from the dashboard. SMS messages can also be utilized to give news alerts. Additionally, SMS messages can be used to give sports updates and statistics. In this way, SMS messages are very versatile. Technology is constantly evolving. SMS services prove that communication is becoming broader and easier. Technologists predict that SMS service will advance such that the service will be more reliable, and be able to store more data for the purpose of transmission. Joe Macon writes about a variety of technology topics, with a focus on SMS technology. Spot Reduction - Fact or Fiction?

By Susan Derry Despite the promises of gadgets or exercises for spot reduction, it is impossible to choose where you will lose fat on your body. Muscles do not control the fat that surrounds them. Fat cells throughout your body reduce in size in response to burning more calories than those consumed. There is no exercise that will remove fat from a particular part of your body. Exercise burns calories, and if your intake of calories is less than your output of energy, you will burn stored fat. Usually the last deposited fat cell will be the first to be used. Meaning that the area of your body where you first noticed fat gain, will often be the last hold out when it comes to fat loss. Although spot reduction is simply one of many weight loss myths, exercise can help with trouble spots in other ways. Exercising leads to greater loss of abdominal fat than dieting alone. Aerobic activity encourages the release of abdominal fat. This is encouraging for men, who often carry their excess weight in their abdomen. Women can also lose abdominal fat through aerobic activity, however, their trouble spots are often their thighs and hips. Strength or weight training can help to tone muscles in trouble areas. Toned muscles give more definition and shape to your body. As well, an increase in lean muscle mass can boost your metabolism, so that you will be burning more calories all day everyday. Stretching helps by increasing flexibility. It can also help improve posture. Good posture is the quickest way to improve your appearance. Standing up straight and tall can make you look several pounds lighter. Try standing in front of a full-length mirror. First slouch and take a look at your reflection; now stand up straight and notice how much fuller your chest and how much smaller your waist appears. A combination of aerobic activity, strength training and stretching is the best way to improve fitness and physical appearance. Susan Derry

Business and Market Overview on Philippines

By Khal Mastan ECONOMY. Philippines's economy suffered through mismanagement under the country's late president Marcos who ruled the country under martial law from the 1960s to 1980s. To revive the country's economy, former president Fidel Ramos opened the country to foreign investments in the early 1990s. During Ramos' term in office, foreign investments increased from only US$42 million in 1992 to US$2 billion by 1997. The Philippines weathered the Asian economic crisis of 1997 in much better shape than many other Southeast Asian countries due to the large number of Filipino overseas workers regularly remitting money into the country and low external debt. Philippines GDP was US$85.1 billion with a GDP per capita of US$1,042 in 2004. The economy of the Philippines grew at annual GDP growth averaging 4.6% from 2000 to 2004 contributed mainly by growth in the service sector, agriculture and exports of electronics. Inflation declined from 6.5% in 2000 to 2.5% in 2002 but trended upwards to reach 8.6% by 2004. Unemployment remains relatively high compared to Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore ranging between 9.8% and 10.9% from 2000 to 2004. The service sector contributes to half or 52.8% of the Philippines GDP in 2004 while manufacturing contributed 31.8% and agriculture 15.3%. Major industries include electronics, garments, footwear, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, wood products, processed foods, petroleum refining and fishing. Major agriculture products include sugarcane, coconuts, rice, corn, bananas, cassavas, pineapples, mangoes and seafood. DEMOGRAPHY. The Philippines comprises of nearly 7,100 islands but eleven islands account for 90% of the country's total population. Main islands are Luzon and Mindanao accounting for 65% of the population. Other major but less populated islands include Negros, Samar, Panay and Palawan. Filipino society and culture is nearly homogeneous and 90% of the population are of the Malay descent. Other ethnic groups include the various indigenous tribes and Chinese immigrants. Spanish-Mexican culture brought by the former Spanish colonial rulers who ruled the country from Mexico has an influence of Filipino culture. The country is predominantly Catholic accounting for 81% of the population followed by various Christian denominations (11%) and Islam (5%). Tagalog is the national language and widely spoken across the islands while English is predominantly used in government and business. The proportion of the Filipino population living in the urban areas increased from 49% in 1990 to 62% by 2004. Philippines' main city is Metro Manila (comprising of the city of Manila and 16 surrounding cities and municipalities) has a population of 10 million. Other major cities include Zamboanga, Baguio, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu City, Davao and Cagayan de Oro. The Philippines suffers from a high level of income inequality and an estimated 30% of the population live below the poverty level. Another 50% of the population belong to the low-income group while the remaining 20% belonging to the middle and high-income group. The average income of those living in Metro Manila is twice than the national average. INFRASTRUCTURE. Telecommunication services within and between the islands is adequate while international services is relatively good. Internet broadband coverage is mainly concentrated in the major cities and towns of the islands. The islands are adequately served by roads and road transport. Travels between the islands are by air or coastal boats. All the major islands are served by international and domestic airports and sea ports. INTERNATIONAL TRADE. Philippiness exports increased nearly 4-folds from 1995 to 2004. Major trading partners include Japan, US, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and South Korea. Main exports from the Philippines include electronics, garments, optical instruments, coconut products, fresh produce, copper products and chemicals. Main imports include machineries, equipments, fuel, vehicles, transport equipments, plastics chemicals and food grains. CONSUMER USAGE OF TECHNOLOGY. The total number of fixed-line telephones installed in the Philippines was 3.4 million or a penetration of 8 fixed-line phones per 100 population in 2004. However, the penetration for mobile phones is much higher at 39 mobile phones per 100 population. The penetration of computers in the country is low estimated at 2% of the population while the estimated number of internet subscribers is 1.2 million and internet users is 8.0 million. The average penetration of televisions among households in the Philippines is 71% but higher in the Metro Manila at 96%. RETAIL MARKET. There are nearly 360,000 retail establishments and the traditional "mom and pop" stores account for 98% of the establishments. The remaining 2% are the store brands comprising of hypermarkets, supermarkets, department stores, convenience stores and speciality stores. Shopping in these establishments is popular among middle and high-income consumers. These modern outlets are mostly concentrated in Metro Manila accounting for 30% of the Philippines' total retail sales. However, many store brands are expanding their businesses outside Metro Manila into other major urban areas in Luzon and Mindanao. Between 2004 and 2007 and estimated three shopping malls will be built in the Philippines annually. FOOD CULTURE. Like most countries in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia, rice is the staple food in the Philippines. Filipino cooking is a blend of sweet, sour and spicy tastes. Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican and Spanish cooking have an influence on Filipino food culture. Traders and immigrants introduced Indian, Chinese and Japanese cooking while the Spanish colonial rulers introduced Mexican and Spanish cooking. Filipinos are also accustomed to western foods especially American style fast foods, bakeries and snacks. UFO: Dinosaur Poop

By John T Jones, Ph.D. Who says that nothing good can come out of Washington, D.C.? The Associated Press reported that Dinosaurs ate grasses. Scientists have found grasses in their poop. It was in the journal Science. Scientist didnt think that Dinosaurs had the teeth for grass. They liked to chew on palm tree bark and ferns like in the movies. (I added this last sentence for color.) It seems that the scientist were confused about grasses too. They sprouted much sooner than they thought. I guess they didnt read the Bible account. Here is a quaint sentence extracted by AP from the article: Most people would not have fashioned that they would eat grasses. That was said by Caroline Stromberg of the Swedish Museum of Natural History. She should know! Ill bet that museum is in Stockholm and I missed it when I was there! It was that gambling-for-fun table in the hotel lobby. Most folks out here in Idaho certainly would not have fashioned that dinosaurs ate grasses. However, I have fashioned that cows evolved from dinosaurs. Now that Science has printed the report that dinosaurs ate grasses, I now have the proof! I thank you researchers! The reason I know that cows came after the dinosaurs is that there are still plenty of cows around. They can scamper away from wolves, bears, and dingoes, but could not from dinosaurs. I heard that shuffle again. Without looking I said, SCRAM Xrytspet! Youre writing a bunch of crap again Taylor Jones, the hack writer. I said, What do you know about it? Cows did not descend from the dinosaurs. We brought them here so that our babies would have milk in 218892888376 B.Y. I said, B.Y.? Before You, Dodo! At least she didnt call me idiot, like she usually did. I said, I dont believe you, Xrytspet! The next thing I knew we were standing in a vast savannah. A huge space ship landed and out came a herd of cows. Out of nowhere, a herd of Tyrannous Rex came running toward the cattle. Zit! Zit! Zit! The dinosaurs all lay dead. Good Heavens, Xrytspet! I said, Now I know what happened to the dinosaurs! They didnt kill the all, said Xrytspet. You are such an idiot! CopyrightJohn T. Jones, Ph.D.2005 John T. In the Dark

By Kenneth C. Hoffman Lorrie flipped the pages of the magazine Lisa gave her. The pictures of the Caribbean started her thinking of her coming summer vacation. Today is the first day of Spring, she thought happily, and Summer will be here before she knew it. Suddenly a weird feeling swept over her body, grabbing all her muscles at once, arching her back violently. Her stiffened neck muscles slammed her head into the wooden headboard. Like a huge fist, her body strained with a vibrating tension, her heart pounding, feeling like it would burst out of her chest. Again. This time Lorrie let out a shriek that woke her husband in the next room. Thinking heart attack, Tom rushed Lorrie to the emergency clinic nearby. Waiting for the doctor he nervously held her sweating hands. He kept asking her what was wrong, but Lorrie just shook her head mumbling "Mommy, mommy" over and over. The doctor sent Tom out while he examined Lorrie, now nauseous and looking pale. No fever, heart beat elevated, no shaking in the limbs, no spasms in the duodenum, and blood pressure normal. A nurse took some blood for testing, the doctor sending Lorrie home to wait for a diagnosis. After an excruciating wait, one doctor recommended that Lorrie acquire a heart monitor for a week. Another prescribed strong digestion pills for her duodenum problem and a third wanted a psychiatric examination. The heart monitor proved that nothing was wrong with her heart, the stomach medicine caused nasal bleeding and the psychiatrist was totally unsympathetic and wanted her to snap out of it. Fortunately, Lorrie got to see a brain specialist, a doctor who was in on the invention of the PET scan, a device that maps the different active areas of the brain. A thorough testing revealed that Lorrie's brain had a chemical imbalance, causing all of her recent symptoms. A week's stay in the hospital was advised and her response to at least a dozen different medications was unfortunately unproductive. During the following months Lorrie could not function normally. She sometimes had to be fed by hand, a catatonic-like state taking over her mind. There were numerous attempts of suicide. Careful watching saved her life several times. Lorrie was caught in the middle of the night heading for the railroad tracks. All sharp tools had to be hidden. When asked how she felt, she could only say that everything looked black (this on a sunny day). Fountains of unneeded tears flowed down her cheeks, the constant singing of hymns in a high, tearful voice, and anything higher than the floor would cause her extreme anxiety. Only after eleven sessions of mild shock treatment were there any signs of improvement. It took three years of minute adjustment of the medication of choice, but Lorrie finally could say she was almost totally cured. Occasional lapses of depression were to be expected and experienced but Lorrie coped with these periods bravely. One in five women have serious depressions and men are not immune. A high percentage of the new papers written by research doctors are about the problems associated with the treatment of depression. Of the hundreds of proteins found in the brain, only ten per cent are fully known. Depression is not a condition a person can 'snap out of'. Much patience and understanding is needed to help bring these unfortunate victims back to full function. Among my interests are graphic art, bicycling, furniture refinishing, reading and photography. Beware of Older Men Lying About Their Age

By Peter Portero When you start dating online, you might run across many types of people. Some will be open and honest about who they are and their physical appearance and others will not. You may find people who have photos that make them look skinnier, taller, curvier, shorter, younger, or older and find out they are none of these things in real life when you meet them. Of course, to give everyone an ounce of understanding, anyone who signs up with a dating service online tries to make everything about them look perfect. Many people figure that if they show the real sides of them, no one would want to date them at all. So instead, they lie and hope it goes unnoticed. One group of people that lie a lot is older men. For some reason, once a man hits 45, he feels as if he needs to lie about his age. Although the trend is not labeled to men as much as it is to women, men do tend to lie and say they are younger. So, when you are searching for those little white lies online, be sure to beware of older men lying about their age. Give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but truly trust no one until you get to know them well. Peter Portero works for Love Semora and Shaadi Bliss. Sketching Your Payment Plan

By Debbie White When you are starting the debt settlement process, the most crucial part is to sketch your payment plan well. First, you have to be able to make the regular payments, and second, the creditor has to agree with it. To sketch an optimal Payment Plan that will get you out of debt, you will need to follow the next steps one by one and review each topic thoroughly. 1. Interest Rate Negotiation: it is one of the most important parts of the plan because a successful interest rate negotiation can and will save you a lot of money. Try to reduce as much as you can in order to reduce the principal debt amount. Your interest rates could get eliminated if your payment plan ranges in a 6-month period. 2. Automatic Savings Deposit: you will need to setup your checking account to automatically transfer money to your savings account. When you accumulate a substantial amount of money, the debt settlement program can be closed for one of the accounts. 3. Old resources may be helpful: make use of old savings accounts, stocks, bonds, mutual funds and any kind of investment to negotiate. By using a large sum of money you could achieve up to 60% of savings, . 4. Ask friends and family for help: do not feel ashamed to ask for help among your circle of friends or your family members. This is a great way to raise funds in order to negotiate a good deal. 5. Insurance policies: you can always use a percentage from your insurance policy to repay your debts. The great thing about it is that you do not have to repay it. Even better, the withdrawn amount is deducted from the policy. 6. Using your assets: if you have valuable assets, sell them to obtain funds. Having lots of assets may be a problem if you ask for Debt Settlement because the creditor could get the entire debt amount without giving you any reduction. 7. Procure an extra income: whenever you can, try to find a second job to increase your income. In doing so, you can reach the Debt Settlement requirements, and you can also start saving money to complete the debt settlement for certain accounts. A saving plan can also be very helpful in the long term. You can always count on the saved money to bargain for a major reduction on your debts. Above all, we recommend people always look for professional help because counselors know the collection agencies and the creditors. That is why they have an edge during the negotiation process and will surely get you the best debt settlement plan in order to achieve the ultimate goal: become debt free. Sacred Love - Living on Purpose in a Relationship is the Key to Long Term Love

By Christopher Walker "Give me a few hours by myself, let me alone, shut out all interruptions, and I can bring myself down to my work. I take my pen in hand. I write a few thoughts. I see the future. And realise my responsibility. The more I think of the duty placed on me, the graver since my responsibility. Every idea has weight. I can see the effect of days ahead."
Life Purpose We speak of life purpose. Actually there
is nothing on earth that is not on your purpose.
Your ultimate purpose is to learn love and everything you do will teach you that.
Whether you are in hospital, permanently different, being challenged.
You are on purpose if you can learn to love more from life.
Develop an inward belief in the sacredness of the whole
And that man can be in tune with this sacredness.
That there is a universe of love, and our ego is yet to see it
Is the journey we are on, with purpose.
Place your mind on truthfulness and use purification
to remove the "dust" which conceals our inherently divine nature
and thus receive the blessings.
Your spirit is a holy power
living in the real world.
All living things possess the Divine
This is being inspired
Observe all taboos
avoid things that cause toxin and pollution.
Make your prayers and offerings
to the temples of your life
Worship the Gods and Goddesses,
in which you place your faith.
The sacred fire is the symbol that fights evil,
It is the great purifier and sustainer,
It is the nature of the sun itself.
So keep a flame burning in your heart. To live your life purpose, you will rise to a point where there is nothing to change in the world. You are no longer polarised by the idea of right and wrong, and instead see that every action, no matter whether it is good or bad, results in a pro and a con. You will act because you love it. You might help the poor, not because it is right, but because you love doing that. You might make love to your partner, not because this is some obligation or because it is right or wrong, but because this is what you love to do. Love replaces right and wrong. There is a sense of completion, you are fulfilled, and no longer need to change anyone or yourself. Then you simply go about your life, giving and loving people, because you find great joy in it. There is no need to tell anyone what you do, because the ego is not important. Now, the reason that you are in relationship is because your lover is a part of your purpose in life. It is not a right relationship, or a wrong relationship, it is both right and wrong, with food for your growth. You are together because from this home you can build the work you love, the gift you love to give. Your life purpose cannot be lived in a righteous home, or a home where your partner is out of phase with you. Your partner cannot be twenty years behind, worrying about their second level or themselves. Their priorities have to match yours. This only means love. They and you must prioritise love over all the other values. This means resource sharing, working to support and challenge each other. Working on projects together, bringing your unique purposes to one place, sharing your gifts, being in love in your relationship and your work, for your souls. This is consciousness of purpose. Not right, not good, not better, not about wealth, not about appearances, not about self. Right and wrong, good and bad. For better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, this is the real marriage of souls, a purpose of love, beyond the self gratification of the ego, a love that binds us, forever, all the days of our lives, together or apart. To have a sacred relationship, youll need to reveal a higher purpose for your relationship. A purpose greater than your individual happiness. Find a reason to live and work together, more than just happiness, and you will begin to extend the honeymood already. The longer the time frame of your dreams and purpose, the more sustainable will be your love. The more you can feel that your relationship is instrumental in helping you live your purpose in life, the greater your sense of devotion to it. If you are not on purpose, you are working on lower priorities, and will develop resentment toward the relationship and your loved one. If your relationship begins to focus on lower priorities (things not connected to your dreams and purpose), then the more you will attract calamities, disasters and humbling circumstances. Once you both have a sense of your life purpose, then all secondary decisions and choices are more effectively made. Youll know where to live, how to bring up children, what is possible from a time perspective, and on the negative side, what would destroy your love. If a person is not working on purpose, then they will be extremely discontent. All your decisions and choices stem from this primary life purpose. So, in your relationship with purpose, there is a solid foundation for making positive choices for the future. If you know your lovers life purpose you can understand them, support them and merge your destiny with them. If your life purpose is based on doing what you love, it follows that all other choices that flow from this will also be based on your love. Without this clarity, couples begin to push and pull, struggling with who is important or confused, between short term outcomes and long term ones. Uncertainty and emotion result. No matter what life choices you both make, they all have a balance of pros and cons. So why not make choices which bring the most fulfillment. If there is no clarity, then all choices are emotional, to feed the ego, and this kills passion and love. Your life purpose is the centre around which your sacred relationship can function. You can compromise everything else, as long as your sense of purpose is solid. Your relationship will thrive if you are both on purpose. Perceptions of being on purpose leads to actions, which lead to rewards. Purpose leads to procedures, leads to results. Our compulsory educational system, which requires almost a third of a lifetime in pursuit of learning, produces little or no originality, teaches nothing of the fundamental purpose of human existence, and ignores entirely the most basic aspect of being, the Soul. We have built up an intellectual civilisation and have entirely neglected the powers of the Soul. The intellect unguided by Cosmic law or love is shrewd, cruel and divergent in its results and humankind is becoming lost in the products of such efforts. We must now arise above that which we have put together and learn to control it. There is no purpose in increasing the size, comfort, speed and material beauty of civilisation if we do not have the vision and character to use them to advantage. This can be only be done by bringing ourselves into consciousness of the Cosmic pattern of life achieved through universal law and a sense of our purpose within it. There can never be enough of anything to make the ego happy. No amount of physical lovemaking makes the ego happy for more than a week. No amount of self righteousness and moral chest beating can make us feel that we are lovable, no amount of romance can make us say, That is enough, I am satisfied, and no amount of material wealth can make us say Goodness, thats enough, I think I will work for free. No the ego is an animal of instinct, but it can never sustain happiness. Having a purpose each means there is a big commitment. A devotion to each other. Then you can continually work on ensuring that your ego does not get priority over love in your relationship. Know your purpose, bring this to your relationship, and pin it to the wall. Forget the wedding certificate, the real contract of love is to help your lover live on purpose. If you achieve this, they will never leave. Your life purpose is an egoless aspiration. One that can never be achieved. It is a devotion, a commitment, a higher reason for your life. Your commitment and devotion to your purpose can change, but your purpose cannot. . When this happens your relationships struggle. Devotion to a purpose greater than yourself is a wonderful reason to be in a relationship. You cannot give what you havent got, so growing in love in a relationship can support your purpose. On the other hand, a negative home, one where emotional laundry is washed in the space of your relationship, can distract purpose. To be inspired in life requires a special devotion. The average relationship can thrive on emotional drama and noisy abuse. But this is not the mark of love, nor will it create a home for inspired living. So, to live on purpose, and be inspired, your relationship, your home, your process, will need to be refined. To find your life purpose, you will need to find your deepest motive in your life. Here are some questions that may help: 1/ What was missing when I was a child 0-3 years old?
2/ What have I been searching for all my life?
3/ What would I love to do all day every day and be paid extremely well for doing it?
4/ If there was one thing I would love to share before I die, one piece of advice I would love to leave as my testimonial, what would it be, and to whom would I give it?
5/ If I was stripped of all my worldly possessions, humiliated in from of everyone I know, what would be the one thing that they couldnt take from me? What would I know?
6/ List your heart driven love list, for each of the seven areas of life. List who you would love to be do have in the seven areas of life. The professor from Harvard was on holiday in Mexico, he stood at his hotel window looking out over the ocean and each day he noticed a fisherman, That fisherman left the shored in his little boat each morning at 5.00am and returned at 7.00am. He unloaded his fish, took a breakfast and was finished his days work by 10.00am. Then he sat beneath the coconut tree and enjoyed the rest of the day in bliss. The Harvard professor approached the fisherman and suggested that with three boats he could employ others and make more money. The fisherman borrowed money and eventually had three boats going out each day. Then the professor suggested that with a fleet of boats the fisherman would really be well off, in fact they could list on the stock exchange. They did so, and the professor then suggested that if they can raise their share price, the fisherman would be rich enough to go down to Mexico, find himself a little boat, he could go out every morning at any time he chose and come back, have his breakfast and then sit under a coconut tree for the rest of the day in bliss. Merchant Account for Restaurant Owners

By Shane Penrod A merchant account for restaurant owners may be just the thing to help your business grow. If you have experimented with several marketing techniques and feel that you are ready to venture into e-commerce, this might be the venue you need to help your business really take off and start bringing in high-level profits. Many banks and financial institutions that offer Visa and MasterCard accounts can provide a merchant account for restaurant owners. After building a solid community reputation and maintaining a clean credit history, you will have the credentials you need to apply for a merchant account. Keep in mind that the banks underwriters may not feel comfortable conferring this privilege to companies that are involved in questionable activities like pornography, spam, mail drug orders, and so on. Some merchant account providers will let you complete the application online, taking just minutes to fill out. Your merchant account for restaurant owners could be approved in a matter of hours or days. The company may send a confirming email message or you might receive a letter in the mail. Either way, you probably will not have to wait very long for an answer, and then a few days more and your credit card processor will be installed and ready for use on the premises of your restaurant. If you make home or business deliveries, staff members who transport orders can process credit card payments when you equip them with a portable wireless unit. They wont have to worry about carrying cash for change or accepting a check that may bounce at the bank. After receiving a merchant account for restaurant owners, you may decide to put up a restaurant Website for marketing purposes. Your Website can feature attractive photos of inside and outside the restaurant location, along with a map and driving instructions that can be downloaded. The site might include a menu with posted specials as they become available on the schedule. A price list or wine list might be helpful, along with a brief bio of the owner, manager, hostess, or head chef with photos. Food arranging or meal planning tips might be offered weekly to keep customers coming back for the newest postings on your Website, which serves as a marketing tool and a bridge that keeps customers connected to your restaurant when they are not visiting. You may even want to include an occasional discount coupon or free beverage, which will serve as added inducements to keep people coming back. The more comfortable they become with visiting your Website, the more likely they are to place orders and pay online. Learning to surf the Web as a restaurant owner with a merchant account can be both fun and challenging. You will enjoy the opportunity of presenting your eatery to the world via the Web pages posted at your site and then checking messages and payments to appreciate your impact on the global community. These are some of the attractive benefits of a merchant account for restaurant owners. Enhancing Communication in Marriage

By Nancy Wasson In marriages, many arguments and hurt feelings can be traced back to communication problems. It's not unusual for spouses to stay in a continual state of frustration, feeling misunderstood and unappreciated. Unexpressed feelings can pile up and poison the relationship.
When you repress your anger, it will always come out later, usually after something minor has upset you. You may find that it's difficult to have a complete conversation without you or your spouse leaving the room before the conflict is resolved. The emotional buttons that your spouse pushes in you can make you want to bolt and get away from your uncomfortable feelings and reactions. Learning to communicate more effectively with your spouse requires that you be fully present and attentive. You have to be committed to really listening and hearing, not only with your ears but also with your heart. You want to eliminate any communication blocks that prevent you and your partner from growing in understanding and intimacy. Communication blocks are anything that you do, verbally or non-verbally, to keep you from connecting deeply with another person. Some examples of communication blocks in marriage are: * Rolling your eyes and looking resigned or exasperated when your spouse is talking; * Sighing deeply and loudly when your spouse is sharing his/her viewpoint; * Looking at your watch or a clock repeatedly; * Not stopping what you're doing when your spouse is trying to have a serious talk with you; * Not making eye contact and not giving your partner your undivided attention; * Using the time when your spouse is talking to think about other things unrelated to the conversation; * Tuning your spouse out because you've heard the same thing repeatedly and are convinced it's the same old speech; * Becoming defensive and angry immediately instead of showing your partner the respect of hearing him/her out; * Belittling your spouse, name calling, cursing, shaking or pointing a finger, or getting in his/ her face. * Interrupting your partner before he/she is finished talking. It has been said that for every minute you are angry with someone, you lose sixty seconds of happiness that you can never get back. It just makes good sense to do everything you can to preserve the good will and intimacy of your marriage when conflict, anger, hurt feelings, and disagreements occur. If you truly love your partner, you will not want to rip him/her to shreds verbally, or to ignore or discount differing opinions and beliefs. You will want to do everything you can to insure that you have quality communication in your relationship and that you are communicating your caring, love, and respect to your spouse Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The most important thing in any relationship is not what you get but what you give." While you cannot control how someone else will react to your efforts, you can commit to doing all you can to create a safe environment where intimacy can flourish. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Nancy J. Write Your Own (Intelligible) Vows

By Jennifer Cram Weve all attended a wedding or a commitment ceremony where the couple have written their own vows and after several minutes of flowery, ungrammatical recitation that wandered all over the place, have ended up totally confused as to what they were actually promising each other. Writing your own vows can be enormously satisfying and meaningful, but the end result can also be a disaster if you fail to observe some basics.
Your vows should be short.
It takes a long time to distill what you want to say into a few words, but it is worth the effort. Consider the traditional vows succinct but very clear. If your vows are too long, before you get to the punch line, your guests will have tuned out.
Your vows should be in plain language
Just because it is plain doesnt mean it cant be poetic. Think of wonderful love poems such as Elizabeth Barrett Brownings How do I love thee? Excessively flowery language can obscure the meaning and can feel quite unnatural to you as you say your vows, and can make your vows appear ridiculous to your guests

Your vows should be understandable to everyone present
Vows are not a proper vehicle for private jokes, secret words, or obscure references. the whole point of making your vows in front of others is so that they may wear witness to your contract - which they can't do if they don't have a clue what you actually were promising.

Your vows should be personal, but not too personal
Many of the guests at your wedding will be either much older or much younger than you are, so keep references to your sex life where they belong, behind closed doors.

Your vows should be grammatical

Your vows should be vows
I've had a number of couples bring me text of "their vows" and I have had to point out tactfully that, while they are wonderful expressions of love, that is all they are, as no promises are made. Your celebrant (officiant) should be able, and willing, to coach you through the process of writing your own vows to ensure they are a true reflection of your commitment to each other, and that they touch the hearts of everyone present but are also intelligible to your guests.
